These companies have a bona fide stake in the local economy. They pay local taxes and employ local workers. They always have and always will. Money that you spend with local companies circulates in the economy up to seven times. Local companies are just as competitive as the big box stores and they really care about and appreciate your business. Chances are they will turn around and do business with your company also. That is how we all survive, by helping each other.

Why buy from a Big Box store and send a check hundreds and even thousands of miles away to a mega-corporation home office?  There is a definite negative impact from big box retailing. They cost us more than they generate in local taxes and property rates and in reality do not create new jobs.
